One Monday evening, I receive a text message from a good friend, whom I haven’t seen in months, asking if I’d like to grab a bite after work.
Sure! I’m just about to head to the gym, but let’s meet up after - probably around 9?
He says to call him post-gym and we’ll figure out the details.
This is essentially how that conversation goes:
Him: Hey! How was the gym?
Me: Amazing. I even showered. Just for you. You’re welcome.
Him: Ha. So what do you feel like eating?
Me: I’m down for whatever - something light and yummy!
Him: Do you want to go somewhere? Or I could order something and we could just hang out at my place?
Me: Either’s fine with me!
Him: Well, do you need to go home first to get yourself together?
Me: I mean, I already showered. I’m nice ‘n fresh-faced-no-makeup right now, but I’m pretty sure you can deal with that.
Him: No, it’s totally fine if you want to stop at home and get ready first.
Me: Haha no, I’m fine; I honestly don’t care.
Him: Ok. Well, how ‘bout you go home, I’ll figure out where we should go and then I’ll pick you up in - how long do you need? Like 30 minutes?
Me: Sure. That sounds fantastic.
Fine. I get it. I’ll put on some makeup and curl my hair.
But only because I feel like it.
